It has been a long time coming, however the time has finally arrived that Tyler Everingham will start up his V8 Commodore for his first official outing since the pandemic. Driving for Anderson Motorsport, Everingham will pilot the #7 entry in the Dunlop Super 2 Series in support of the Virgin Australia Supercars this weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.
Everingham completed a test day at the SMSP circuit in his Blue Ribbon Legal backed Commodore just this week, in a bid to blow out the cobwebs and refresh his skills after a long four and a half months off.
The young-rising star is more than ready to get back behind the wheel and feel the force of his V8 engine once again. This weekend will also be the first official event that Everingham will drive for Anderson Motorsport.
“I’m really looking forward to getting back to it this weekend,” said Everingham.
“It has been such a long time. It was great to be able to get some laps in earlier in the week at the test day. It gave us a chance to filter out any issues and also allowed me to get a feel for the car again before the racing this weekend.
“I’m just really thankful that we are still able to go racing through this pandemic, obviously it’s impacted Australia and the world hugely – so I’m really grateful to be able to continue to do what I love through these tough times.”
The Dunlop Super2 and Super3 fields will merge together this weekend totalling a field of 25 cars. Two 18-lap races are on the schedule for Super2 / Super3 across Saturday and Sunday.
“I think it’s great that the two Series have merged together,” said the 19-year old.
“There will be more cars on track and more action. I can’t wait to get to it!”
The Truck Assist Sydney SuperSprint will become the first event since the championship’s resumption to also have fans trackside; although limited.
“It’s great that Supercars have been able to introduce fans to this event. Being under lights, it’s sure to be a great weekend of racing,” said Everingham.
“Hopefully I can have a decent run this weekend and bring home some positive results for my sponsors.”
The Dunlop Super 2 Series are set to hit the track for practice one Saturday 18th July, 10:15am.
